The challenge
As a solo indie developer running three side projects, the monthly SaaS bill was adding up fast: $25/mo for Heroku, $20/mo for a database, $10/mo for monitoring, $15/mo for analytics, plus various other tools. The combined cost was eating into already thin margins.
The solution
Migrated all three projects to a single TinyPod server running Gitea for code hosting, Plausible for analytics, Uptime Kuma for monitoring, and PostgreSQL for databases. GitHub Actions handles CI, and TinyPod's auto-deploy from GitHub handles the rest.
